The Budapest Cafe Orchestra

The Budapest Café Orchestra  plays gypsy and  folk-flavoured music from all around the world delivering traditional Balkan, Russian, Hungarian and Romanian traditional gypsy and folk music in their own fresh and surprising way with jazz nuances and their own unique arrangements.

Established by award-winning British composer, violinist and teacher Christian Garrick in 2009 the Orchestra are admired for their artful re-workings of masterpieces by the greats of the Romantic era specialists such as Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky and Greig.

With 15 albums to their name the Budapest Café Orchestra have won legions of fans with their magical and infectious performances  with the four members combining violin, guitar, accordion, double bass, saz and  balalaika to dazzling effect, creating an awesome aural alchemy normally only characteristic of far larger ensembles.

The BCO features accordionist Eddie Hession who has performed alongside music legends such as Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras, and Chris Rea while Christian Garrick is one of the world’s most celebrated jazz violinists., has an extensive resume that includes collaborations with Dame Cleo Laine and Sir John Dankworth, Wynton Marsalis, Nigel Kennedy, Bireli Lagrene, Tim Minchin, Caro Emerald, and John Etheridge. Adrian Zolotuhin, is a master of strummed string instruments and veteran bass player Kelly Cantlonbrings decades of experience to the BCO.

Together, the Budapest Café Orchestra creates a rich and exhilarating fusion of global musical traditions, bringing joy and delight to audiences everywhere.

In person at The Ropewalk

Maltkiln Road, Barton upon Humber, DN18 5JT, which is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am – 5pm, and Sunday and Bank Holidays, 10am to 4pm. There is no additional charge for cash and card transactions in person.
