Good Habits – Folk Fusion
‘Quarter Life’ album release tour
During the two years spent happily stranded in New Zealand by the pandemic, Good Habits, composed of Bonnie Schwarz (cello and vocals) and Pete Shaw (accordion), performed at some of NZ’s largest festivals. A debut album, “Going For Broke” received glowing press in Songlines and The New Zealand Herald and they were endorsed by Amanda Palmer, Neil Gaiman and the New Zealand Police.
Upon returning to the UK at the end of 2021 as Purbeck Rising winners, the duo released a second album ‘Antipody’, a coming-of-age record that reflects poignantly on time spent happily stranded on the other side of the world, and embarked on a homecoming tour, starting off with a performance at Manchester Folk Festival which resulted in further bookings at Bristol Folk Festival, Cecil Sharp House and Kendal Calling. Bonnie and Pete can now be found touring relentlessly around the UK and Germany in their red van, Laurie Vanderson, and are looking forward to performances at Shrewsbury Folk Festival and more.
The pair mix vivid storytelling with eclectic sounds, drawing on their diverse musical tastes and weaving them into an action-packed narrative of folky goodness.
“Good Habits wrap darkly witty lyrics in a delightfully old-world package that crashes together the timeless sounds of cellos and accordions with knowing and warm vocals that make you want to wrap this duo band around you like an old blanket.” Amanda Palmer (Dresden Dolls)
“A captivating set of highly original songs… there’s rare emotional warmth and fullness to Good Habits’ sound.’’– Songlines (★★★★)
“Revved up folkies with great energy and spirit” – 13th Floor
“Wonderfully quirky and exceptionally talented” – Unheard NZ
